How are sitters vetted?
Six layers of vetting - including police checks and a face-to-face interview.
Every sitter on The Village Co goes through six layers of vetting before they can accept bookings.
We only work with people we'd trust with our own kids.
The six layers:
1. Application review We review every application manually. We're looking for genuine experience with children, clear communication, and the right values.
2. Face-to-face interview Every sitter has a video or in-person interview with Nikki or Sophia before they're approved. No exceptions.
3. ID verification We verify every sitter's identity using a government-issued ID.
4. First Aid We strongly encourage all our sitters to have First Aid training or knowledge.
5. NZ Police check Every sitter provides a current NZ Ministry of Justice criminal record check.
6. Real onboarding Sitters go through onboarding that covers our standards, expectations, and what to do in an emergency.
Only sitters who pass all six layers are approved. And we continue to monitor our community after approval, if anything changes, we act quickly.
